What are the disadvantages of using BigTable over MySQL, PostgreSQL or MongoDB?

I would also add unpredictable cost.  MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc. you can host yourself or on the cloud at a fixed cost (with variables on traffic).  But the one thing that freaks me out about BigTable (and SimpleDB) is the whole charge for puts and gets.  You’re going to get wildly different costs for applications with different usage patterns.

A lot of people that I’ve talked to are using stuff like BigTable to store metrics data that they would only mine themselves instead data sets that are frequently read from and written to by all users of the application.
